Attendance
Research commissioned by the Department for Education shows missing school for even a day can mean a child is less likely to achieve good grades, which can have a damaging effect on their life chances. At Greenpark Academy our aim is to work with parents to ensure that all our pupils receive the most from their education and reach their full potential.
School is open from 8.30am to 3.00pm each day (32.5 hours a week).
To ease congestion at the school gate, we have a drop-off window from 8.30am-8.40am. Registration commences at 8.40am, if you arrive after this time, please bring your child in via the main office. You will be asked to use the iPad to sign your child in and provide a reason for them being late.
The school day ends at 3pm, to ease congestion at the school gate, we have a pick-up window from 3.00pm-3.10pm.
If your child cannot attend school for any reason you must advise the school office or your class teacher before 9.10am, on the day that they are absent. You can call on 01553 772018 or inform us via your Pupil Asset parent app or Class Dojo. You need to contact the school every day your child is absent.
If you do not contact the school office before 9.10am, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised. We will telephone or text you on the first and every subsequent day, if we have not heard from you.
If we are unable to make contact parents/carers by telephone, we will telephone emergency contact numbers on our system and a home visit may be made, in the interests of safeguarding.
Parents wishing for leave of absence during term time must apply in writing at least one month before the planned leave. Leave of absence is only granted at the discretion of the headteacher and shall not be granted unless there are exceptional circumstances. If the school does not receive a written request for leave and the leave is taken, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
For further information, please view our attendance policy which can be found on the policies page.
